6:56. That's what Amy's clock read, four minutes until she was supposed to meet Rory at the Wig and Farkin. A small restaurant in Leadworth, the food was decent for the price of it and sometimes she and her friends went there when they were bored. Tossing things into her handbag like her phone, lip balm and money Amy looked up at the time again and cursed when she saw she now had three minutes to get to the restaurant. Hollering to her aunt that she was going out and would be back later, Amy stuffed her feet into her trainers and hurried out the door.

Walking in quick long strides, Amy looked to her left when she heard someone say her name and smiled at Jeff's grand mother politely before reaching into her handbag to see what time it was. She still had two minutes and she sighed in relief before slowing her pace, Amy could see the Wig and Farkin straight ahead as she passed Everson's general store. Wondering if Rory was waiting outside she turned her head a bit to see past the sign for Broderick bookstore to see if he was there or not.

Amy wasn't going to admit how she felt anxious about this whole thing. This was far from the first time they've come to this place, but this was the first time they were here on a date. She tried to pretend that nothing was out of the ordinary but Rory looked more fidgety than normal, had flowers and dressed up more than he usually did. Amy on the other hand was dressed in clothes she usually wore.

"Thanks." She said with a small laugh before stepping through the threshold. Greeted by the owner, Amy smiled politely before he asked if it was just the two of them. "Em, yes." She said, side eying Rory for a moment before following him to their table. Scooting into the booth, Amy put her bag on the table, leaving the option for Rory to sit next to her or across from her up to him.

He ends up across from her, awkwardly hunched over as he tries to remember that this is the same girl who used to punch him in the playground. He just hopes Jeff doesn't turn up.

Biting at her nails absently, Amy broke eye contact with him as she rested her elbow against the table and looked around the small restaurant. Sighing heavily, Amy took her fingers away from her lips and looked back to Rory after she realised he was saying something. "Hm? Oh, yeah."

Tapping her fingers against the table she let her eyes roam over his attire. "I didn't know you owned a tie."

"It's my dad's," he replies with a flush, acutely aware of how bored she is already, "It's was that or that old Hawaiian shirt mum keeps fobbing off on me."

I've never heard of the word fobbing till just now. Excuse me while I laugh.

Instead of pointing out how red he's gone, Amy leans over to play with it a bit. "It looks nice on you." She complimented, bringing her eyes up to meet his and giving him a flirtatious smile.

Looking up when their waitress brought them over water, Amy looked to Rory wondering if he was ready to order because she already knew what she wanted.

It's that kind of place where they can say the usual and get away with it, and Rory's slightly flustered by the compliment. Amy has that surprising habit.

"Usual, please."

Chicken burger. He's adventurous, really.

I almost said fries. Bad American, bad.

Amy just lets out a laugh at how flustered he seems to be. "Chicken burger?" She teased before ordering a cheeseburger and chips for herself. Once the waitress went away, Amy leaned back in her seat. "So..." She trailed off, trying to think of something to talk about. Playing with the paper from the straw, Amy rolled it between her fingers. "Have you heard back about the job you were going for?"

"Uhm, no. I think I'm just going to stick with the Hospital here. I'm probably not qualified enough for the bigger ones in the city," he replies, watching her for a moment, "What about you? What are you going to do now your aunt's moved?"

Amy nodded before licking her lower lip, she hadn't exactly told Rory about her new job yet. "Well, I got a job a few days ago. Pays well, hours aren't that bad."

"Really?" He grins at that, suddenly pleased for her. The current economic climate is horrifying anyway, "Where?"

She knew this question was coming, but she didn't exactly want to answer it because she had a feeling she knew exactly what his response would be. "Em, well it's not exactly a sit down job. I'm a kissagram." She said casually, breaking eye contact with him as she began to bend and unbend her straw.

"A kissogram?" he sounds surprised, voice lifting into something of a sqwack, but it's not enough to attaact attention.

And that was the reaction she had been expecting. "Yes." She said before acting as if his reaction hadn't been one she was expecting. "You sound surprised."

"Uhm, it's just-."

Usually he treads very carefully where Amy is concerned. Out of them, she's the one with the more bizzare ideas and Rory really does not want to upset her. Still, it's a date, and he feels vaguely uncomfortable with the idea of other men kissing her.

Licking her lower lip, Amy broke eye contact for a moment to look and see if their food was coming. It felt like ages, even if it had just been a few minutes since they ordered their food. "It's just what?" She asked as she looked back at Rory.

"Nothing," he states after a minute. First and foremost, he is Amy's friend, and he knows that any job is still a job, "You'll be careful though, right? No dodgy blokes."

"Rory, aren't I always careful?" Of course she knew that wasn't true, and she was aware he was thinking the same thing. "Em, kissagram. Dodgy blokes kind of comes with the territory." Amy wasn't stupid though, if she really felt threatened she was capable of handling herself. Or at least she liked to think so.

When their food arrived, Amy thanked the waitress before grabbing a chip and biting into it. "So how goes the hospital duties, Nurse Rory?"

"All right," he shugs one shoulder, cuts his burger in half with his knife so it's better managed, "Mr. Daniels thought I was his son again. Offloaded an awful lot of dodgy toffees on to me."

Amy bit her lip to keep from laughing, she knew that Mr. Daniels was going down hill and it wasn't something she should laugh about. "Could be worse, couldn't it?" She asked as she put some vinegar on her chips, even though they put it on them already it wasn't enough for her liking.

Silent for a moment, Amy went between eating some of her food and watching Rory as she tried to think of something to talk about. "What did you want to do after dinner?" Amy asked, before adding "Figured we could hang out."

"I was thinking maybe we could go to the pictures?"

Twirling his fork around thoughtfully, "Or uhm - we could pop into town if you'd like?"

I figured this'd take place in 2006/2007 when they were 17/18.

"Hm, what's playing?" Amy asked after swallowing her food. "And do what? Stare at the old people?" She asked somewhat teasingly. Though to be completely honest there wasn't much to do in Leadworth. Ever.

"Uh -" Rory doesn't quite know, so he glances at the window. "There should still be the poster in the post office window, we could look at that after?"

"Or...." Amy brought her gaze to his. "We could go back to my house and watch a movie there?" She suggested casually.

"Oh," he replies, a slow smile starting across his face, "Yeah, if you'd like. That'd be - good, very good."

I don't know why I thought I replied. :| Fail!

Smiling at Rory, Amy looked down at her food and then back up at him. She still couldn't believe he wasn't actually gay, that he had been fancying her this entire time. Apparently Mels had been right. "Any movie you had in mind?"
